Elderly people and children were among up to six people in the people carrier after the driver ran a red light leaving them trapped between the automated barriers. Father-of-three Jawad Hassan, 32, has been banned from driving for 18 months after he sparked panic at the busy crossing last August CCTV footage show children and elderly people fleeing from the Seat Alhambra and Hassan smashing the vehicle through the barriers to safety. 'He had a full car of passengers and, immediately they got out, panic set in. Mr Hassan was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, with 150 hours of unpaid work.
