Border collie gets 4 inch stick stuck in it's eye A mischievous border collie called Diesel was left five millimetres from death when he went exploring in a wood — and ended up with a six-inch stick embedded in his head. The stick went into his eye, narrowly missing his optic nerve – which would have blinded him – and stopped just short of his brain. But a quick-thinking vet gently plucked the wood free, leaving the nine-year-old rogue free to roam another day.
