BBC Radio 4 interrupted by yodelling As a panel reviewed the Sunday papers the programme cut to a 10 second extract of gospel song Jesus Put a Yodel in my Soul. Broadcasting House presenter Paddy O’Connell later apologised, blaming the error on a “glitch”. But confused listeners took to Twitter to question what happened, with some speculating that the station’s continuity account had been “hacked” or the show had been “yodel-bombed”. The glitch occurred just as Lord Digby Jones began to review an article in today’s Sunday Telegraph by Liam Hannigan. However, as the former head of the CBI was about to discuss the impact of the World Trade Organisation appointing a new director general, he was blocked out by the sound of a woman yodelling.When Lord Jones finished Mr O’Connell said: “Apologise if you heard us leave the radio, there has been some kind of glitch and you may have heard an orchestra instead of the sweet sound of our guests this morning. Sorry about that.” But as he tried to get the popular Sunday morning news programme back on track they were interrupted by what sounded like a slamming door. Mr O’Connell asked: “What is going on this morning?” He was told that the power was failing on the radio car which Lord Digby was using in Warwickshire, and the engine had to be turned on to charge the batteries. “Oh my lord, there is something in the water,” Mr O’Connell said. Twitter users took to the social networking site in astonishment to question whether they had really heard the yodelling. Sally Wintle ‏tweeted: “Was there some random yodelling during Broadcasting House paper review… or did I dream it?” Others pointed out that Mr O’Connell’s description of the song as “orchestra” was questionable, and some suggested someone may have pressed the wrong button. Nic Price tweeted: “Broadcasting House on @BBCRadio4 just got yodel-bombed.” A BBC spokesperson said: “It was a technical error.
